Seawings Destination Ras Al Khaimah

Destination Ras Al Khaimah

The highway approaching Ras Al Khaimah runs for kilometres alongside sandy beaches and a clear blue sea, with the distant range of the Hajar Mountains appearing like a shadowy wall to the east. It's one of the most beautiful roads in all the UAE.

Curving Creek

A long promontory of sand, almost divided from the land by a broad, curving creek, provided a perfect setting for the old town of Ras al Khaimah. The dhows, which were the lifeline of the place, could moor in safety within the sheltered creek whose waters, shallows and mangroves protected the town from the land. Only a narrow approach from the south was possible, and on that side the isthmus was guarded, in the past, by a wall and towers.
Sons of the sea

The people of Ras Al Khaimah were always great seafarers, regular sons of the sea. Their history since the earliest times was shaped more by the seashore than by the hinterland, their sustenance and prosperity when they enjoyed any derived from the sea rather than the land.
